Recently, I ate dinner out at The Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City. And, I ordered a rare wine by the glass and received Bad Wine #3. And, the wine tastes flat. Most likely, the reason is that the bottle was probably opened over a week ago or more. That’s the problem with ordering rare wines when you are out to dinner. A wine goes flat after being opened for a long time. Flat means it begins to lose it’s flavor which comes from the acids. The wine begins to oxidize quickly. That destroys the acids which provide the aromas and flavors. Normally, it’s okay to ask for a glass from a new bottle. In addition, any good restaurant complies with such a request.

Flat Wine

Rare Wine By The Glass Is Bad Wine #3

My go to is Italian wines. And, the rarer they are, the better. The wine list is nice. So, I order a glass of sauvignon blanc from Italy. Who knows that Italy makes sauvignon blanc wines? I am a bit surprised. Even more surprising, it is flat. The wine loses it’s aroma and flavor. It tastes lifeless on my tongue. Even though, it has the hallmark aroma and taste of sauvignon blanc of citrus lime and lemon. Also, I taste it after I swallow, but it is weak and barely perceivable. The wine is Gradis’cuitta from Collio. I ask for a glass from a new bottle and it is like night and day. What a beautiful wine it is!
