Answers To What Wonderful Things You Should Know About Pinot Noir

Answer: 1-France (Burgundy) 2-USA (Oregon)  3-New Zealand

1-The Burgundy region of France has the best Pinot Noir and they have centuries of experience. For those who may be confused, Burgundy is NOT a wine! Back in the eighth century, King Charlemagne decreed that the only red grape that can be grown in the Burgundy region was pinot noir. It was his favorite red wine. Also, he made Chardonnay the only white grape. Eventually, that turned out beautifully as the town of Chablis is in Burgundy.

2-Oregon is on the same latitude as Burgundy and has similar weather so it was ideal for Pinot Noir.  In fact, several prominent wine producers in France have opened wineries in Oregon such as Domaine Drouhin from Joseph Drouhin in France.

3-New Zealand has a similar climate and latitude but on the southern hemisphere. So it grows nicely here as well. Proof that Mother Nature matters greatly with wine production. Notice how all three are at or near 40 degrees latitude.
