1 – Gaja 2 – Frescobaldi 3 – Mastroberardino 4 – Santa Margherita 5 – Antinori

Answer – Sadly the answer is number four, Santa Margherita. They certainly have the popularity. But demand has reduced quality over the years. Ironically, the price keeps going up because people are unaware. Look for Pinot Grigios from the areas of Alto Adige, Valdadige and Trentino; especially the ones with German names like Alois Lageder. Also, avoid inexpensive ones that say “Delle Venezie” which is a broader category.
