New Jersey Does Have Great Wineries To Love

Monroeville Vineyard & Winery

Introduction to New Jersey Wineries

There was a time when there was a feeling that New Jersey wineries couldn’t make good wine. New Jersey Does Have Great Wineries To Love. The reasons ranged from poor terroir, lack of wine making knowledge, using varieties that don’t grow well in the state, etc. That same feeling goes towards most states not named California, Oregon, Washington or New York. While most of us weren’t looking, good wines were being developed in New Jersey and many other states. They learned which varieties grow well and much more. I recently had the pleasure of tasting Monroeville Winery’s Merlot and was blown away! I didn’t believe that New Jersey wineries could do that. After years of tasting mediocre to bad wines, Monroeville Winery made a statement!

More New Jersey Wineries

In Mantua, New Jersey, there is a wonderful winery called William Heritage. They have great tasting room and serve food inside and out. On the weekends, they usually have events. I had the pleasure of going one Sunday when they had food trucks, wine flights and entertainment. They make a wine called Carbonic that was my favorite, and many others.

William Heritage Winery

There is a winery called Cream Ridge in Monmouth County. They make a good homemade sangria style wine called POCO LOCOL (a little bit crazy). I am normally against wineries trying to sell their wines with fancy labels, but I had to make an exception here. I am not sure why exactly, but I think it was the bottle shape. Anyway it tastes great, so I bought some.

DiMatteo’s Peardonnay Wine

Many New Jersey wineries are mixing flavors into their wines. DiMatteo’s Peardonnay is a classic example. Sometimes they can be overly sweet, but when they get the sugar level right it is game on! And there’s no end to the different concoctions you will find here. Unfortunately, you will have to come to New Jersey to buy and taste because most only sell in state.

Therefore, many wineries make wine from blueberries. Antioxidants abound! Monroeville makes a good one. Also, Tomasello Winery is one of the largest blueberry wine producers. Check out Renault winery which has a restaurant and lodging. You can even get married there!

Some Wineries Are Still Learning

There is a farm. They are a farm market. They also make wine. Well they are learning to be honest. I tasted several of their wines and I think they should get some advice from one of the better winemakers in the area or anywhere. They need to invest in advice. I left their name out intentionally.
